Take a screen capture (print your screen)
Sometimes it's easier to show IT what you're seeing on your computer screen instead of explaining it. In Windows, one easy solution is the PrtScn key. When you press it, an image of your screen is copied to the Clipboard. This is called a screen capture or screen shot.
Instructions:
- Open the program, image, website or other display that you want to capture. Fit as much on the screen as you can without having to scroll; a print screen does not scroll down and will only capture what appears on the screen at a given time.
- Press "Print Screen." This button is usually near the top of the keyboard. It might be labeled "PrtScn" on your keyboard.
- Reply to the message your received from IT regarding your support request.
- Put your cursor in the location where you want to place the print screen image in the email. Press the "Ctrl" and the "V" keys on your keyboard simultaneously. The image will appear.
- Send the email.
